Tutevia Terms of Service

Last Updated: August 2026

1. Definitions

  • "Platform" refers to the digital infrastructure, booking systems, and payment gateways operated by Tutevia.
  • "Tutor" signifies the independent educational professional listing their services on the Platform.
  • "Client" designates the parent, guardian, or student over 18 responsible for booking and financing the tuition.
  • "Session" means any block of educational time successfully scheduled and paid for via the Platform.

2. Platform Agency & Tutor Independence

  • Our Role: Tutevia functions strictly as a marketplace and payment facilitator. The formal agreement for educational services exists exclusively between the Client and the Tutor.
  • Self-Employment: Tutors utilising Tutevia are self-employed independent contractors, not employees. They retain absolute responsibility for their own income declarations, National Insurance, and tax obligations.
  • Indemnification: Tutevia holds no liability for employment disputes, tax liabilities, or statutory contractor obligations arising from the Tutor-Client relationship.

3. Payments & Booking Integrity

  • Centralised Transactions: To ensure scheduling accuracy and secure payouts, all financial transactions must be executed through Tutevia’s integrated payment systems.
  • Platform Fees: The displayed price for any Session is inclusive of the Tutor's rate and Tutevia’s administrative platform fee.
  • Off-Platform Prohibition: Any attempt to circumvent the Platform by requesting or remitting payment via cash, bank transfer, or unapproved third-party applications constitutes a fundamental breach of these terms and will trigger immediate account suspension.

4. Cancellations, Rescheduling & Refunds

  • The 24-Hour Notice Rule: Clients who cancel a Session using the designated platform link at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled start time will receive a full automatic refund, provided the booking has not been previously locked as non-refundable.
  • Late Cancellations: Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed entirely (no-shows), forfeit eligibility for a refund. The Tutor will be fully compensated for reserving their schedule.
  • Rescheduling & Permanent Non-Refundability: If a Client reschedules a Session with less than 24 hours' notice before its currently scheduled start time, the booking immediately becomes permanently non-refundable. Any subsequent cancellation of this Session will not be eligible for a refund, regardless of how much notice is given for the final cancellation.
  • Late Arrivals: Students are expected to attend on time. Tutors are under no obligation to prolong a Session to make up for a student's late arrival, and the booking remains fully chargeable.
  • Tutor Cancellations & No-Shows: Should a Tutor be unable to attend and proactively initiate a cancellation, the Client's payment will be refunded in full. In the event of a Tutor no-show (failure to attend without prior cancellation), the Client is entitled to a full refund, provided they formally report the absence to Tutevia within 24 hours of the Session's scheduled end time. Failure to report a Tutor no-show within this dispute window will result in the Session being deemed completed and the funds being irrevocably disbursed to the Tutor.

5. Vetting, Safeguarding & Communication

  • Supervision Constraints: For any student under the age of 18, a legally responsible adult must remain present on the premises throughout the duration of the online Session.
  • Communication Channels: To ensure safeguarding, Tutors are strictly barred from private messaging students. All organisational correspondence must be directed to the registered parent or guardian via designated email threads.
  • Background Checks: While Tutevia conducts onboarding reviews, we do not warrant that all independent Tutors hold active Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificates unless explicitly verified and displayed on their profile.

6. Intellectual Property Rights

  • Educational Materials: Any bespoke resources, slide decks, or worksheets provided by the Tutor remain their exclusive intellectual property. These are provided for the student's personal revision only and may not be distributed or reproduced.
  • Session Privacy: The recording of live video Sessions by either party is expressly forbidden unless prior, unambiguous written consent is obtained from both the Tutor and the Client.

7. Liability & Dispute Resolution

  • Service Scope: Tutevia and its registered Tutors make no guaranteed warranties regarding academic progression, specific examination grades, or university placement outcomes.
  • Liability Cap: In the event of a platform failure or service dispute, Tutevia’s maximum financial liability to any Client is strictly capped at the total transaction value of the specific disputed Session.
  • Arbitration Window: Any grievances concerning a Tutor's attendance or technical delivery must be formally reported within 24 hours of the Session's scheduled end time. Beyond this window, the Session is considered successfully completed.

8. Non-Circumvention

  • Network Protection: Clients agree not to independently solicit, hire, or otherwise engage a Tutor introduced by Tutevia for private, off-platform tuition for a period of 12 months following their final booked Session.

9. Legal Jurisdiction & Contact Details

  • Severability: Should any specific clause within this agreement be deemed legally unenforceable, all remaining provisions shall remain fully active and binding.
  • Governing Law: These terms are constructed and governed strictly in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, subject to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
  • Contact & Notices: Tutevia operates in the United Kingdom. For customer support, formal notices, or legal enquiries, contact us via help@tutevia.co.uk or through our official website contact form.
